Poll Results for "Labels" Question

In a conversation with Jen a few days ago, I remarked that I was thinking of eliminating the list of labels (tags, categories, wev you might call them) in my sidebar, in an attempt to have less ... stuff ... flowing down the side of the page.

She said, "But they're useful, don't you think?"

"Meh," I replied.

She was persistent in her opinion, however, so I put it to you, my Dear Readers.

Sigh, I am well and truly put in my place. By an overwhelming margin, you have agreed with her. 10 out of 15 people said, "Yes", 1 said "No", 3 said "What are Labels?" and 1 said "Why would I navigate a site?". Why, indeed?

The list stays. And I thank you for your input.

A Question For My Loyal Readers...

...and anyone else who happens by.

Let us say that you met someone about a month ago. This person is a friend of your neighbor, who is staying with said neighbor for an undetermined time period. You've spoken to this person three, maybe four times.

Then this conversation takes place...

Person: What are you doing in the morning?
You: Not sure 'til morning.
Person: Do you think you could give me a ride to [temp agency] around 5:30?
You: (looking at Person wide eyed) 5:30 AM? Like, before daylight?
Person: That's when they open.

What would you say/do?

A couple of points to consider before you answer:

1) Look at the time stamp on this post. It is about the time you normally go to bed.
2) Well, there isn't really a #2, except to repeat... you hardly know this person, but you do know that agreeing to this is likely to lead to multiple requests for rides to various places... because Person doesn't even have a driver's license, much less a car.

First off, I had no idea that there were so many people out there who had hordes of monkeys at their beck and call. I mean, sure, I suspected Drs. Monkey and Zaius - and, of course pidomon - but not the rest. I'm somewhat jealous, even though there's no room in the Secret Lair (aka '73 Winnebago) for monkeys... and the kittehs probably wouldn't share nicely anyway.

Speaking of kittehs, I'm glad that Ceiling Cat likes my blog enough to recommend it to those who hear his Voice. (Would that be the Kittehtron?... hmm, a lolcat version of Dogma. Note to self: contact Kevin Smith)

To the one person who heeds the advice of Senator Ted Stevens - are you a Republican or an oil industry insider? Just kidding, I know that no Republicans would read this blog.

The Blogroll/Bookmark percentages were about what I expected. (And thanks to all of you who have me blogrolled. You must regret that decision on a daily basis.)

Finally, the biggest surprise of the whole poll. Not one of you use the Magic 8 Ball to guide your InterWebs travels. I don't know what to say about that, except... "Ask again later.

Latest Phydeaux Poll Results!

(btw, I do know that the numbers are rounded off and that is the reason for the missing 1%)


I reckon I should have expected such terribly skewed results, with a loaded question - or rather, answers - like that. The only thing that really surprises me is that no one answered "No". Apparently the folks that didn't see the poll chose not to vote.

Hey, that's just like most Americans eligible to vote in elections!

I guess I'm also mildly surprised that no one chose "I'm from Gdansk" - it was a PolePoll, after all.

Scientific Polling... NOT!!

A few days ago, I posed this question:

With Fredo Gonzales' resignation, the post of AG is open. Will the Current Occupant:

A) Make a recess appt. at some point
B) Nominate a lackey (Chertoff, et.al.)
C) Nominate a non-partisan
D) Leave the "Acting" AG until Jan 2009

And the votes are in!

An overwhelming 60% say that George III will nominate a lackey! 40% say he will leave the Acting AG in place until he leaves office. Oddly, no one thinks that a non-partisan will be nominated to fill the position of Attorney General.
